How to add support for your statements

Users are encouraged to request support for their bank statements. This is not an inconvenience to me, but rather an opportunity to expand the Transtractor's capabilities and help more users.

Follow these steps to safely add support without giving up any personal information.

Step 1: Extract the text from your PDF statement

Process a statements using the button below.

This will use your browser to extract the text and positional information I need without uploading the file to a remote server.

Step 2: Redact your personal information

Open the file in your favourite plain text editor (e.g., Notepad) and redact any personal information by replacing it with "XXXXX". Parts to redact include:

  • Your name
  • Your home address
  • Your account numbers
  • Your credit card numbers
  • Sensitive transaction descriptions

Step 3 (optional): Redact amounts

Large opening and closing balances, and large transaction amounts, should be redacted to avoid revealing your financial situation. Do the by changing the value, but retaining the format (e.g., "$102,100.56" to "$1,000.00").

Step 4: Email the redacted text file

Email the redacted text file to support@transtractor.net.

I will retain a copy of this file for testing purpose. If you have mistakenly included personal information, I will redact it and notify you. Your original file and email will be deleted.

Step 5: Wait a few days

Please note that this is a hobby project and I may take a few days to process your request. I will respond once I am done or having difficulties.

Step 6: Test the Transtractor

Test the Transtractor with your PDF statements. Please let me know if it works well or if you encounter any issues.

Step 7: I will update the website

Thanks to your help, I can now claim support for yet another bank on the support page and you can now use the Transtractor.
